Accident With Injuries Reported At Cedar Point on SkyHawk
Reports are swarming in that at 10:25pm tonight there was an accident at Cedar Point on SkyHawk. The worlds largest swing ride features two giant arms that swing up to 125 feet in the air.
A cable on the ride disconnected from one of the ride’s two carriages and came in contact with two park guests, according to park spokesman Bryan Edwards. The cable also caused damage to the ride fence and surrounding area.

Reports are buzzing via social media that a young boy has suffered a broken leg and a man was struck in the face by debris. Although that information was not officially confirmed, Park spokeman Bryan Edwards said one victim was treated and released at the scene. The other was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Edwards continued that the ride was immediately shut down after the accident.
“Safety is our top priority at Cedar Point,” he said in a statement. “Skyhawk will remain closed until our investigation is complete and the ride can safely reopen.”

The accident was said to have happened at approximately 10:30 pm. The Sandusky Register newspaper reported that one of their reporters entered the park at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Here’s what was seen:
“All pathways that led directly to Skyhawk were barricaded. At least three Cedar Point police officers stood guard. When asked, one officer said the area was blockaded for cleaning purposes.
A Cedar Point employee who works right near Skyhawk said he heard a series of loud bangs. He said he watched as Skyhawk jerked abnormally. When the ride did come to a stop, it was not stopped mechanically. Rather, it swung until gravity stopped it, the employee said”. No ambulances or emergency personnel were in the area at this time.
This is the third time the ride has malfunctioned since it opened in 2006. We will bring you the latest once more official information is released.
