Disneyland Ending 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration
Last year Disneyland announced it’s three major events that would be happening as part of the 60th anniversary Diamond Celebration: Paint the Night Parade and Disneyland Forever fireworks at Disneyland, and World of Color: Celebrate at California Adventure.
This week, it was confirmed that the parade and both shows will have their last day on September 5.
World of Color Celebrate, told the story of the creation of Disneyland and how it evolved through the years with Neil Patrick Harris as the host. The replacement will be the previous World of Color show. It will still play nightly at Disney’s California Adventure.
The Disneyland Forever fireworks will be replaced with the previous Fantasy in the Sky fireworks. Disneyland Forever was very high tech using projections on Main Street and the Matterhorn, and some of the songs featured in it were “Let It Go” and “Under the Sea,” plus the new original song “Live the Magic.”
While the classic World of Color show will play nightly, Fantasy in the Sky will only be played on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. There has been no announcement for a replacement of Paint the Night parade yet.
Disneyland is going to have a bright future ahead, with Star Wars Land currently under construction and opening in the next few years. The Disneyland Railroad, Fantasmic, Mark Twain Riverboat, and Tom Sawyer’s Island will all reopen in summer 2017 after Star Wars construction progresses. Star Wars Land will be the largest expansion in Disneyland’s sixty year history.
