DJ K-NYCE Attempts to Break the Ferris Wheel World Record in Ohio
Each year, a temporary amusement park moves into Cleveland Ohio. Over 20 acres of rides fill the I-X Indoor Amusement Park with fun for the whole family! Back this year – the Crazy Mouse Roller Coaster and if you want to soar to new heights take a ride on the Soaring Eagle Zipline!
April 1st through April 3rd, a local Cleveland radio DJ known as DJ Knyce on Z107.9, is attempting to break a Guinness World Record for taking the longest ride on a Ferris wheel! The existing record is 48 hours, so he will have to ride the ferris wheel for at least 55 hours to break that record. If all goes as planned, the record should be broken around 2pm on Sunday April 3, 2016.
While this seems like an easy task, it isn’t, because he isn’t allowed to sleep at all for the entire ride, and is only allowed a 5-minute recess for every hour on the wheel to use for food and bathroom breaks. We have done some roller coaster marathons of our own in the past, while it may sound very easy and fun, it is extremely exhausting! So major props to him for even attempting to break this world record.
“I’m actually really afraid of heights, so I’m not looking down,” said Knyce Friday afternoon as his gondola spun around the giant wheel. “Besides that it’s not bad. I don’t mind the spinning, but the rocking when they stop to unload people can be rough.”
The popular Cleveland DJ is doing it to benefit the local Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland. Fans can either pay $20 to take a spin on the Ferris wheel with Knyce, or donate to his cause online by clicking here. If you want to ride with DJ Knyce on his record breaking journey, the park is selling shirts instead of tickets. Fans can purchase an “I rode with Knyce” t-shirt for the opportunity to ride with him on the Ferris Wheel.
For anyone wanting to visit the I-X Indoor Amusement Park, this is a temporary attraction that comes each year and is only open on select dates from March 25 to April 17th this year.
