This is a view we have been accustomed to at Walt Disney World for over a decade, and sadly… it will soon disappear…

Disney Spokesman Bryan Malenius has officially confirmed Disney’s Hollywood Studios plans to re-imagine the central plaza area of the park by removing the Sorcerer’s Hat in early 2015. That means we may have a view like this once again…

Since 2001, the sorcerer hat has served as an icon at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Removing the epic hat will restore the original view of Hollywood Boulevard and the Chinese theater, which is making many mouse fans very happy. Not only will this restore the view of the Chinese theater, but it will once again make for clear view of the ultimate “hidden Mickey”. The hat debuted in September 2001 as part of the “100 Years of Magic” celebration that marked Walt’s 100th birthday. Originally, it was to be temporary but ended up being “permanently temporary”.

There have been a bunch of changes happening recently for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including the closing of the Studio Backlot Tour and Frozen taking over the space that housed The American Idol Experience.

There is lots of speculation about additions of a Star Wars-themed land, a Toy Story Mania area, a Monsters Inc coaster, various flat rides, and a small version of Cars Land similar to the version in Disney’s California Adventure. Although, any of the rumored additions would be awesome, they have yet to be confirmed. Also in for change is “The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow”, which will be closing on Nov. 6, 2014.

So many changes are happening at Hollywood Studios right now it’s hard to even speculate on what will really happen. But follow closely as we will bring you the latest on the happenings throughout the park.
