Six Flags Over Texas Debuts Record Breaking 309ft Roller Coaster
After nearly a year of anticipation, Six Flags Over Texas has welcomed guests aboard Tormenta: Rampaging Run, a record-breaking new attraction that introduces the world’s first giga dive coaster. Towering 309 feet above the Arlington skyline, the Bolliger & Mabillard creation combines the massive scale of a giga coaster with the signature vertical drops that have made dive coasters a fan favorite.

Located in the park’s newly themed Rancho de la Tormenta village in the Spain section, Tormenta immediately becomes one of the most ambitious attractions ever built by the park. Themed after Spain’s legendary “running of the bulls,” the coaster shatters six world records while adding another marquee thrill to the original Six Flags park.

We first covered Tormenta when Six Flags Over Texas unveiled the attraction in September 2025. Now, after months of construction, testing and anticipation, guests can finally experience what has become one of the most ambitious roller coasters ever built.
Standing 309 feet tall, riders are lifted high above Six Flags Over Texas before being held over the edge of the first drop for three suspense-filled seconds. From there, the train plunges down a 285-foot, 95-degree beyond-vertical drop before racing through an enormous layout featuring towering inversions, sweeping turns and moments of airtime at speeds reaching 87 mph.

Designed by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M), the renowned Swiss manufacturer behind many of the world’s most iconic roller coasters, Tormenta combines the towering scale of a giga coaster with the signature suspense of a dive coaster. The result is a first-of-its-kind experience that blends a towering lift hill, dramatic holding brake, and massive inversions into one record-breaking attraction.
According to Six Flags Over Texas President Pete Carmichael, the attraction is more than just another coaster.
“Tormenta: Rampaging Run forever changes not only the Arlington skyline, but the full lineup of thrills only offered at Six Flags Over Texas. With the addition of this record-breaking dive coaster, Six Flags Over Texas is a must-visit destination for thrill lovers from all over the world, and we can’t wait for our guests to take their first rampaging run!”
Tormenta: Rampaging Run World Records

- Tallest dive coaster – At a height of 309 feet, Tormenta: Rampaging Run towers over every other dive coaster in the world.
- Fastest dive coaster – Reaching a top speed of 87 mph, no other dive coaster is faster.
- Longest dive coaster – The legendary bull runs fast through 4,199 feet of weightless “airtime” moments, sharp turns and drops.
- Tallest vertical loop – Rising 179 feet, the vertical loop is the highest on any roller coaster in the world.
- Highest Immelmann inversion – Riders are flipped head over heels at 218 feet in the ride’s first upside-down moment, the Immelmann, a fighter jet-like maneuver that takes the train into a half loop, then a half roll before traveling in the opposite direction.
- Highest beyond-vertical drop – Once the train is finally released from its hold, it drops riders into a 95-degree, beyond-vertical drop as they plunge 285 feet toward the earth.
Tormenta serves as the centerpiece of the all-new Rancho de la Tormenta, an immersive Spanish village inspired by the annual “Festival Taurino.” Throughout the area, colorful banners, themed architecture and entertainment celebrate the ranch hands whose cattle once brought prosperity to the community.

According to the attraction’s backstory, the village was originally named for the powerful storms, or tormentas, that swept across the surrounding plains. That changed with the birth of a legendary bull known simply as Tormenta, whose incredible speed, unmatched strength and fearless nature transformed it into a symbol of resilience and power for the town.

For fans who can’t make it to Texas to experience Tormenta Rampaging Run in person, you can take a front seat ride right now. Check out the official POV video below for a first-hand look at the record-breaking coaster in action.
The opening also arrives during a milestone season as Six Flags Over Texas celebrates its 65th anniversary. Throughout the anniversary season, visitors can expect special events, giveaways and celebrations honoring the park’s rich history.
