Six Flags Great Adventure Welcomes Baby Giraffe and New Veterinarian
Excitement is in the air at Six Flags Great Adventure’s Wild Safari Drive-Thru as the park welcomes two heartwarming additions this summer; a newborn giraffe calf and a new full-time veterinarian with deep roots in the community.

The spotlight shines on Mbi (pronounced em-bee), a three-week-old female giraffe who is already capturing hearts behind the scenes. Born to mother Embu, Mbi is thriving under the care of the safari’s animal experts. As she continues to grow and gain confidence, guests can expect to catch their first glimpses of the young calf out on safari in the coming weeks.

Adding to the celebration, the safari’s animal care team has welcomed Dr. Erica Jackson, DVM, as its newest veterinarian. A native of Toms River, Dr. Jackson first joined the park as a seasonal employee during her college years. After completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts and earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University, she has now returned to the safari full-time.

“I’ve loved animals since I was three and always dreamed of working here,” said Dr. Jackson. “Now, I get to help care for some of the most incredible species alongside an amazing team.”
Dr. Jackson brings a special passion for working with elephants and credits two of the safari’s longtime veterinarians — Dr. William Rives and Dr. Ken Keiffer — for shaping her journey into exotic animal medicine. Her training includes hands-on experience at the renowned San Diego Zoo, and she is already making an impact at Wild Safari, where she helps care for more than 1,200 animals.
Guests exploring the drive-thru safari this summer may be lucky enough to spot both Mbi and Dr. Jackson in action, as the park continues its mission of conservation, education, and extraordinary guest experiences.
Part of the larger Six Flags Great Adventure Resort, the Wild Safari is one of the largest safaris outside of Africa, home to over 1,200 animals. The resort also features the theme park, Hurricane Harbor waterpark, and the Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa.
