Kings Dominion And B&M Unveil Rapterra Ride Vehicle at IAAPA Expo

Kings Dominion, in collaboration with Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M), revealed the ride vehicle for Rapterra at the annual IAAPA Expo in Orlando, Florida. Set to debut in 2025, the groundbreaking coaster will be the tallest and longest launched wing coaster in the world, standing at 145 feet tall and spanning over 3,000 feet of track.

The unveiling marked the first time the public could get an up-close look at the vehicles, which feature B&M’s signature wing coaster design.

Take a closer look at the reveal in the video below.

Unlike traditional coasters with seats directly above or beneath the track, Rapterra’s winged configuration places riders on either side of the track. The floorless, open-air design enhances the sensation of flight, immersing riders in thrilling elements throughout the 89-second journey.

Rapterra’s innovative layout includes a powerful launch, propelling riders to a top speed of 65 mph. Guests will soar through dramatic twists, turns, and inversions, complemented by near-miss elements designed to heighten the adrenaline rush. These features, paired with the ride’s record-breaking stature, promise a ride experience unlike any other.

Construction on Rapterra is already well underway at Kings Dominion, with visible progress across the site. The area is beginning to take shape, providing a glimpse of the massive scale and intricate design of this record-breaking coaster.

Although the area isn’t landscaped and finished, one train is on the track and ran its first full circuit test run. Check it out!

Kings Dominion fans can look forward to the coaster’s grand opening in 2025. For more details and the backstory of the ride, Click Here.
