WinterFest Kicks Off At Kings Island With All New Parade
After a year hiatus, WinterFest is back at Kings Island! Last night, the Cincinnati based amusement park kicked off the evening of holiday cheer with a lighting ceremony before transforming the park into a Winter wonderland!
The annual holiday tradition in Mason offers an unforgettable experience for Kings Island’s guests with the park transformed into 11 enchanting winter wonderlands, ice skating on the Royal Fountain, the Eiffel Tower converted into a magical 314-foot-tall Christmas tree, more than 5 million lights, up to 20 rides including Mystic Timbers, and live entertainment all throughout the park.
This year’s WinterFest features the addition of a brand new holiday parade.
The nightly “Wonderland Parade” features more than 150 festive performers and eight floats with classic themes such as toy boxes, gingerbread houses and even a float for the big man himself- Santa Claus. Much like the Spectacle of Color Parade during the parks Grand Carnivale event, the new parade stops several times along the route to allow guests to participate in the show. The event is chock full of entertainment and shows including Carriage Rides, Pics with Santa, Snow Sledding, and even some soothing holiday sing-a-long’s at the Christmas Cafe Patio! (located at the KI Bier Garten behind Hank’s).
The park is gearing up to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2022. Some of their new anniversary merchandise is already on sale.
If guests aren’t up for riding, there’s plenty to see and do around the park from cookie decorating with Mrs. Clause to drinking blue hot chocolate with Charlie Brown. Artists are always carving up unique ice sculptures in the Action Zone, so be sure to stop by!
