Wild Adventures To Close Record-Breaking Coaster
After being closed for the entire 2020 season, Wild Adventures have revealed that the park’s Cheetah coaster is being retired.
The coaster, made by Custom Coasters International, has been the signature ride at the park since it’s opening June 16, 2001. The ride held the record for having the tallest drop of any wooden coaster in the state. The ride stood 92 feet tall, had a drop of 90 feet, and had an overall length of 2680 feet. Riders would reach speeds exceeding 52 MPH. The ride ran with two six car trains made by Gerstlauer.
The park’s reasoning behind the closure is that the the “ride (Cheetah) has been retired to make room for new and exciting changes in the coming years“.
The next question is what will be replacing it? It appears that as of now the replacement ride will take a while, since there is no record of any work being filed with the respective agencies. Should the park decide to demolish the coaster, it’ll open up the entire back section of the park for further expansion.
