Mack Rides Unveils New Rocking Boat Ride Concept

Mack Rides is a manufacturer known for their ingenuity and innovative rides. Back in late January, Mack showed a sneak peek of their new water ride concept during the 2020 FKF Convention held at Europa-Park. Today, the manufacturer has officially revealed their concept video with more details.

The Rocking Boat features an 8 passenger vehicle that is modeled after a small boat. The vehicle enters the water where it appears to free float, but it’s actually Connected to a track and powered by a submerged drive motor allowing permanent control of the position and speed of the boat. Machinery in the chassis of the boat provides rotational degrees of freedoms, allowing the boat to rotate on a moment’s notice with no chance of sinking or capsizing. You can see a close up look of the drive motor and how it’s connected to the track in the images below.

This unique ability of the boat to move in this manner allows for a variety of effects. From the boat rocking in relation to a simulated wave, or listing to avoid bumping into undersea monster, the combinations are endless for the ride.

Furthermore, the boats can transverse both forwards and backwards. This unique concept can also be used for a classic raft style ride as well. Being connected to the track just like the boats, it eliminates any chance of turning over.

Check out this unique ride in the video below!

This could be used for a multitude of applications such as a remastered Jaws type ride, a Jurassic Park revamp,  or even a white water rafting adventure. Whatever the application may be, this will definitely being a new dimension to classic water rides.

There are rumors swirling that Europa Park will use this type of attraction for their new version of “Pirates at Batavia”, but nothing has been confirmed. It’ll be interesting to see where the first install will debut.

We would love to hear where would you like like to see this concept installed? Let us know on our socials!
