Kennywood To Host Brews in the Park And Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival
After the sun has set on Kennywood’s 2019 Summer Season, and before the fearsome Phantom takes over for Fright Nights, two popular food and drink festivals fill the park calendar for the final weekend of summer.
The fun begins with Brews in the Park on Saturday, September 21, continuing the next day with the Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival, the region’s salute to one of our most treasured ethnic foods.
Sponsored by Stratwood Catering, Brews in the Park brings more than 100 varieties of IPAs, pilsners, porters and other craft beers available for samplings scattered throughout Kennywood. New to Brews this year is an Oktoberfest area, including a live polka band, themed drinks and games. Live music, specialty food trucks and Kennywood concessions round out the afternoon fun from 3 – 7 p.m. Brews in the Park attendees can enjoy early ride time on Kennywood favorites from 1 – 3 p.m., including the Thunderbolt, Jack Rabbit, Merry Go Round and new Steel Curtain.
Guests must be age 21 or older to attend Brews in the Park. Tickets must be purchased in advance through Kennywood.com/brews. Designated Driver tickets are also available.
On Sunday, September 22, the Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival returns for its third annual celebration at Kennywood! More than 30 food vendors will set up shop in Kennywood to offer unique twists on the classic pierogi, with an open competition to see who is Pittsburgh’s best pierogi pincher!
Take a break from sampling the pierogis to ride some Kennywood favorites. Rides available on Sunday include Steel Curtain, Thunderbolt, Jack Rabbit and Racer. Festival-goers can also enjoy live music, a pop-up pierogi marketplace, and special appearances by Pittsburgh Dad and the Pittsburgh Pirates Racing Pirogies!
Planning to go to the festival? Adults can save $4.00 by purchasing in advance at PittsburghPierogiFestival.com. Discounted admission is available for children age 3-12, senior citizens and military at the gate or online. Food and drink are not included with admission.
