Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Attraction Announced For Disneyland

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, is rolling into Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland California in 2022!

Disneyland park guests will be able to step into a cartoon world and join Mickey and his friends on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway! With an original story and lovable theme song, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will use state-of-the-art technologies and dazzling visual effects to transform the cartoon world into an incredible and immersive multi-dimensional experience.

“This first major Mickey-themed ride-through attraction at Disneyland park will put you inside the wacky and unpredictable world of a Mickey Mouse cartoon short where anything can happen!” says Disney. “Once you step into the cartoon world of Mickey and Minnie, you’ll board a train with Goofy as the engineer. Then, one magical moment after the next leads you to a zany, out-of-control adventure filled with surprising twists and turns.”

Before it was officially announced, Disneyland Resort president Josh D’Amaro’s, first shared the news on his personal Instagram showing off the plans with Mickey and Minnie:

Rumors have been swirling about Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway for quite some time, but until now, nothing was officially confirmed. The past few months, super fans have been speculating exactly where the new attraction would be installed. We have learned the new attraction will not replace any existing rides – it will be constructed in a current backstage area and Mickey’s Toontown being expanded accordingly.

Walt Disney Imagineer Kevin Rafferty, who worked on the ride, said in an interview “This is one of the boldest… most impossible things I’ve ever worked on in almost 40 years of being an Imagineer. It’s not going to be a small attraction, it’s going to be game-changing”.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is set to open at Disneyland’s California park in 2022!

With the announcement, we also learned that Walt Disney World’s version of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been pushed back and will now be opening in the Spring of 2020.
