Project Teel Documents Reveal New Coaster Coming To Busch Gardens Tampa

While the 2018 season of thrills has just begun for most amusement parks, 2019 plans are already being executed at some parks. According to documents filed with the Southwest Florida Water Management District, Busch Gardens Tampa is advancing on a new attraction they are calling “Project Teel”.

Plans indicate a new ride will be placed in the splashdown pool of the former Tidal Wave attraction.

While the plans were posted on the department’s website, there are a few interesting things to note.

First, the project is defined as:

“The project calls for the removal of ±40,185 sq. ft. of existing impervious attraction/walk areas and the construction of ±19,683 sq. ft. of impervious attraction/walk area and ±3,230 sq. ft. of building area. This results in a reduction of impervious area of ±17,272 sq. ft. to be used as credit for future BGT projects.”

Secondly, the building proposed as part of the new project has the same layout and features as the stations found on the Premier Rides Skyrocket II (2-3) car models, which has recently opened at their sister parks SeaWorld San Diego as well as Busch Gardens Williamsburg in Virginia. These plans seem to confirm those speculations. Below is a video of what the skyrocket ride looks like at Busch Williamsburg – who also could be getting a new coaster (more on that here).

The ride name has yet to be revealed. But, as we reported a few months back, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment have filed several trademarks. Uproar, Twisted Tiger, and Tigris have all been trademarked and are all fitting for a launch coaster in this area of the park. Uproar and Tigris seem to be the better choices for Project Teel in our opinion.
