New Features In Store For Howl-O-Scream At Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Today Busch Gardens Williamsburg announced new additions for this year’s Howl-O-Scream event!

A new Terror-tory, Axe Alley will be opening at this year’s event in New France. At the beginning of summer, Busch Gardens was invaded by the Vikings with the opening of InvadR, the park’s first wooden roller coaster. As summer changes into fall, the Norsemen have been sent running…to Axe Alley.  It began as a raiding party, but it soon became apparent that not even the Vikings could handle such a powerful attack. As you make your way through Axe Alley, you’ll find yourself in a mess of desolate ruins of smoldering timbers and axe-slashed oak. But watch out for the spirits that lurk among the trees, they’re restless and under the control of the madness. Their goal – unleash terror.

In addition to the new Terror-tory, a new escape room will be joining the ranks of terrors at the park. No Escape: Case of the Haunted Hotel will require you to follow clues and solve riddles to unlock the secrets of the cursed hotel in order to be freed. This particular once-grand hotel has housed many weary travelers seeking refuge, but few have ever been seen again. As you work to escape, you’ll find secrets lurking behind every door and unless you want to become a permanent resident, you’d best figure them out. This escape room, like the park’s other escape room, is located in Germany. The other, No Escape: Case of Mr. Karver will be returning this year but with new tricks and puzzles to keep you on your toes.

Finally, Frostbite, a new haunted house will also be opening at this year’s event. The enchanted dark castle was one protected by a fire-breathing giant who stalked the grounds guarding the castle. It seems, however, that he has met his demise as his bones are now a mere decoration in a macabre icy grave. In the wake of his demise, frostbite now consumes those trapped within the castle. If you dare enter, you’ll find yourself amidst a harrowing array of chilling elements – everything from a fog-shrouded graveyard to a creepy cavern (complete with frigid creatures). The cold is the least of your worries though, as the ice has teeth and this frost bites. This haunted house will be located in the Curse of DarKastle building though it will not feature the ride vehicles or theming of the Curse of DarKastle.

Howl-O-Scream begins September 23 and runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through October 29. The park will have select extended hours and days to give you additional time to experience the fear.
