Wave Breaker Opens At SeaWorld San Antonio
Yesterday, Wave Breaker: The Rescue Coaster officially opened to the public. The new coaster, named as one of the Top Ten Must Ride Coasters in 2017, puts you right in the middle of a heart-pounding mission inspired by the SeaWorld Animal Rescue Team. Wave Breaker’s jet-ski styles car is the first of it’s kind in North America. Riders sit in a straddled position and grip handle bars.
The queue line is themed with stories from some of the SeaWorld Rescue Team’s rescues from the past 50 years. Before boarding the jet-ski, riders are assigned one of three rescue missions during a mission briefing – sea turtle, dolphin or sea lion.
The coaster covers 2,600-feet of track and takes riders through a series of high-speed maneuvers and steeply banked turns. It also launches directly over the water, helping to further create the illusion that you’re really racing through the water on a jet-ski. In fact, 90% of the track is over the water. Each train holds 16 riders, takes you up 61 feet and reaches up to 44 mph through the course of the more than three minute ride.
