Tony Johnson Named General Manager At Kings Dominion
Cedar Fair Entertainment Company has appointed amusement park industry veteran Tony Johnson as general manager of the Kings Dominion amusement park in Doswell, Virginia — effective today. Most recently, Johnson served as corporate vice president of operations overseeing rides, water parks, and even security throughout all of Cedar Fair’s parks.

Johnson is inheriting the park in a milestone year for Kings Dominion. Twisted Timbers, an RMC hybrid coaster is opening in late March and WinterFest is being introduced at the park in November for the 2018 holiday season.
“Tony Johnson is a superb executive with deep experience and leadership skills” said Tim Fisher, Cedar Fair’s chief operating officer. “I am confident in Tony’s ability to execute these endeavors with excellence, grow the business and enhance the guest experience throughout the season.”

Johnson’s amusement park career began as a seasonal associate at Kings Dominion. He worked his way up the ladder, assuming roles of increasing responsibility in a number of other Cedar Fair parks including California’s Great America and Carowinds. His roles have included leading security, water parks, rides, and maintenance operations in addition to overall park operations leadership. Tony graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in education, as well as the Rappahannock Criminal Justice Academy. He currently serves on the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) global security committee and the state of Virginia amusement device technical advisory committee.
