Six Flags Debuts “The Bobcat” — A New Wooden Roller Coaster At Great Escape

Six Flags Great Escape, located in upstate New York, has officially released “The Bobcat” from its den.

This thrilling addition is the first wooden coaster introduced in New York since 1999, combining modern speed, airtime, and twists with the nostalgic charm of traditional wooden roller coasters.

Resort President Rebecca Wood expressed her excitement about the new ride, saying, “The Bobcat is a beautiful, landmark addition to Six Flags Great Escape. We are so proud to bring a state-of-the-art coaster, the first of its kind across Six Flags properties, right here to the Lake George Region. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate our 70th anniversary than with an innovative, family coaster that is sure to become a fan-favorite amongst budding and seasoned coaster enthusiasts for years to come.”

To celebrate its inaugural weekend on June 1 and June 2, the first 1,500 riders each day will receive an exclusive, themed souvenir, making their first rides on The Bobcat truly memorable.

Constructed by renowned roller coaster manufacturer, Gravity Group, The Bobcat is not only the first wooden coaster in New York in over 20 years but also the first new coaster at Six Flags Great Escape since 2003. This innovative ride replaces the Alpine Bobsled, which closed on September 4, 2023, promising a blend of family-friendly thrills and exhilarating speed, airtime, and twists.

Complementing the iconic Comet, The Bobcat offers a classic wooden coaster experience with quick turns, dynamic drops, and heart-pounding excitement aboard its custom, state-of-the-art trains. This new addition is poised to become a beloved attraction for both new and seasoned roller coaster enthusiasts.
