A few weeks ago Adventureland made a mysterious post on their social media channels teasing the “slaying of the Dragon”. Days later it was revealed that the new ride “Dragon Slayer” would open in 2021. Since then, the park has been hush while pieces of track and supports have appeared onsite.
From all the evidence onsite, the new ride appears to be an S&S 4D Free Spin coaster. The track and supports are very similar to those used for other Free Spin models.
The new coaster will likely be placed alongside of the Tornado wooden coaster (where the double helix of the old Dragon was), with the far ends of the new coaster jutting out over the track of the other coaster. Although it seems close, it does not appear the coaster will interact over the lake.
This will be the third coaster the park has added in the last 6 years along with Monster and Phoenix.
The former Dragon coaster had a much larger footprint than the new free spin model leaving plenty of room in the park for re-arrangement and future expansion.
