Last week at Cedar Point’s annual Winter-Chill Out Event, the park announced a new partnership with Melt Bar & Grilled. It’s an Ohio favorite for sandwiches and the restaurant is known for serving over-sized gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. The partnership came about after Tony Clark, Cedar Point’s Communication Director sent out a tweet to Melt joking about opening a location at the park. Turns out, Melt was really interested in joining the Cedar Point family.

This will be Melt’s ninth location when it opens on Memorial Day Weekend. The new restaurant will take over the former Joe Cool Cafe near planet Snoopy. The Joe Cool Cafe building is being renovated over the next few months to feature an outdoor patio, and a full bar where guests will be able to take a break from riding rides! Check out this rendering of the new restaurant.

“We’re absolutely ecstatic about launching at Cedar Point,” said Matt Fish, owner and founder of Melt Bar & Grilled, “because we see visiting Melt like riding a roller coaster. There’s a lot of anticipation; then the thrill, and as soon as it’s over, you want to go again!”

For those of you who don’t remember, here’s a look at what Joe Cool’s Cafe looks like.

Although the full menu hasn’t been announced yet, park officials did say the Cedar Point location will offer exclusive menu options that you will not find at any other restaurants. Melt will even be debuting an all new sandwich exclusive to the Cedar Point location called The Firecracker Chicken, which features spicy fried chicken, pepper jack cheese, avocado, and grilled pineapple.

Melt will be the only place in the amusement park to get liquor. The new full service bar will feature a selection of craft brews, a limited wine list, and signature cocktails themed after famous Cedar Point rides and attractions. As of now, Melt will not be included on the dining plan, but it’s possible it may be added in the coming years.

Melt has a ‘prestiguous’ 25% off for life club with one way to join — get  a tattoo of a Melt Bar and Grilled logo. The Ohio based restaurant offers members of their club 25% off any purchase at Melt Bar and Grilled, for life. It’s unknown if the Cedar Point location will accept the discount for members of their tattoo club.

Cedar Point opens for the 2017 season on Saturday, May 6, but Melt’s debut won’t come until Memorial Day weekend – Friday, May 26 with the debut of Cedar Point Shores.
