Linnanmäki Announces Taiga – Intamin Launch Coaster For 2019
A few months ago, Coaster Nation reported on the Linnanmäki demolishing the Vonkaputous water coaster. However, Linnanmäki has revealed their largest coaster to date.
Something exciting has been brewing at Linnanmäki Amusement Park during the past winter. The amusement park has been posting teasers in the social media implying that “Taiga is in the air”. Finally, Linnanmäki has announced the Intamin LSM coaster Taiga (Finnish for “Forrest”) will arrive in 2019. Riders will reach speeds of 65 MPH, as they navigate the 3622 feet of track. The ride will stand over 170 feet tall featuring two launches, a 170ft top hat, and 4 inversions!
Park executives are excited about the park’s record breaking investment. Pia Adlivankin, Managing Director of Linnanmäki, underscored the importance of the new ride: “We are very excited to finally announce that Linnanmäki is making its greatest ride project ever in co-operation with ride manufacturer Intamin. This most unique high-profile launch coaster can be described as a coaster enthusiasts’ dream.”
Anssi Tamminen, Technical Director of Linnanmäki, commented on why the park went with Intamin for the project:
“It was an easy choice to select Intamin as our ride provider, since they had the most creative layout suggestion for our challenging terrain. We are truly satisfied with our biggest ride acquisition ever.“
Intamin’s Executive Vice President Sascha Czibulka proudly boasted about the ride’s potential impact:
“This coaster will impress everyone. The final layout design phase was a true collaborative effort with Linnanmäki, and we were able to come up with a roller coaster which will set new standards not only in Finland but in the whole Northern Europe and even beyond.”
When Taiga opens for the 2019, season it will be Finland’s longest track length and the second Intamin coaster at Linnanmäki. For tickets and more information, visit the Linnanmäki website.
