Located oceanfront in Myrtle Beach, Family Kingdom Amusement Park is a long-standing destination known for its family friendly atmosphere, coastal charm, and lineup of more than 35 rides and attractions. The park features classic amusement rides, roller coasters, go-karts, and a full water park next door, making it one of the region’s most accessible and nostalgic summer spots. Its mix of traditional rides and beachside atmosphere has kept it a yearly tradition for both locals and vacationing families.

One of the park’s most iconic attractions is the Swamp Fox, a classic wooden coaster that has been thrilling guests since 1966. Standing approximately 72 feet tall with a 2,400-foot figure eight layout, the ride delivers a fast paced blend of dips and turns that showcase the charm of vintage coaster design. Built during the golden age of wooden coasters, Swamp Fox remains a must-ride for visitors who enjoy nostalgic airtime and a true wooden coaster experience.

Now, Family Kingdom is preparing to add something completely new to its lineup. The park has announced that the region’s first RMC Raptor model coaster is officially on the way. This single rail design will stand around 100 feet tall, reach speeds of 50 miles per hour, and feature a custom track layout created exclusively for the Myrtle Beach park. The project marks a bold shift toward modern thrills while still honoring the park’s classic roots.

During an interview on the IAAPA Expo floor, Dean Corl of Family Kingdom talked with IAAPA News director Scott Fais about the park’s newest partnership with Rocky Mountain Construction. Before the conversation wrapped, Corl highlighted how meaningful this project is for the family owned park and how this collaboration with RMC represents a major step forward in shaping their future.

While the official name, theme, and full layout have not yet been revealed, excitement continues to build. Another RMC in the Southeast adds to the manufacturer’s growing momentum and positions Family Kingdom as a surprise standout in regional coaster development.

Guests can expect the signature single rail seating, tight maneuvers, and fast pacing that Raptor coasters are known for as shown below on the Wonder Woman RMC Raptor model at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

With this new RMC on the way, Family Kingdom is positioning itself as more than a quick stop during a Myrtle Beach vacation. The addition of a custom single rail coaster has the potential to elevate the park’s profile, drawing visitors who come specifically for the ride rather than discovering it by chance. As construction moves forward, all eyes will be on how this project reshapes Family Kingdom’s place in the regional coaster landscape.

More details, artwork, and construction milestones will be shared as soon as they are announced. Coaster Nation will continue covering every update as Family Kingdom enters an exciting new era.
