Walt Disney World Opens An Escape Room
You and a group of people will be locked in a themed room. Your goal is to work together and use elements around you to find clues and solve puzzles in order to escape the room within a certain time limit. Part game, part theater, part team-building exercise, escape rooms are taking off around the world. And the growth has been explosive. The number of permanent rooms world-wide has gone from zero at the outset of 2010 to at least 2,800 today, according to MarketWatch calculations based on rooms registered to escape-room directories. Even Disney has jumped on the Escape Room band wagon. Disney just put a unique ‘spin’ on one of the hottest trends in group team building experiences!
The Escape Challenge at Walt Disney World is available as an exclusive offering for corporate groups from the Disney Meetings team. Groups are split into small teams and brought into one of several themed rooms to search for clues and solve puzzles. Upon arriving, participants are first greeted by four unique steampunk characters who explain the objective of the challenge: to find the “Stone of Stones” in order to save the element of time and preserve the history of the world.
As the participants travel back in time, they find themselves locked inside the first room which will be the captain’s quarters of an abandoned pirate ship, full of old maps, navigational tools, gleaming gems and gold coins.
The team must work together to search throughout the room and unlock clues to a hidden message. Only then can they “escape” their temporary prison.
This will be a multi-room and multi-element adventure. After escaping the first room, participants will then find themselves in the second, even more perplexing predicament—locked inside the laboratory of a mad scientist.

Filled with creepy experiments gone wrong, this room features hidden traps and misdirection around every corner. The team must work together to solve the complicated clues and cunning challenges to win the game and ultimately, save time.
Although this particular event was themed to the idea of “preserving time”, The Escape Challenge can be completely customized and tailored to fit any group’s event theme, message or objective.
After hearing about this for quite some time as a rumor, Disney has finally released an official trailer for the escape room.

Now that you know all the details, you’re probably wondering.. Where is it? At first guess one would think Disney Springs, or DisneyQuest, but Disney’s Escape Challenge is actually part of the Disney Meetings program, designed as a corporate team-building experience. The specially constructed set is fully mobile and transportable, meaning it can be built and installed in function space available onsite a Disney convention resort or theme park event venue. And, to help foster additional relationship building and networking, the event can even be taken to the next level by adding a unique food and beverage experience at the culmination of the challenge.
The big question is… Will Disneyland and other Disney resorts pick up the escape room craze? Rumors are already swirling that more Disney Escape Rooms are on their way!
