Universal Orlando Announces 2017 Mardi Gras Dates

Universal has announced a major change to its annual Mardi Grad celebration for 2017. In the past, Universal’s Mardi Gras event took place from February until mid April. In 2017, Mardi Gras will take place for 49 nights total, with the parade happening every night from February 4 to March 24! That’s a lot of beads to throw!

Even though the Mardi Gras event will be 49 nights, the big concerts will still only take place on Saturdays and Sundays. So, while the big headline concerts will still happen, it’ll only be on 12 of the 49 nights. None of the headline artists have been announced yet.

We’re really happy to see these dates added to thin out the crowds. The event is usually really packed on the weekends. The best time to visit will most likely be weekdays in February… (That’s when we will be there for sure)!

Bands from New Orleans will perform each night of the event, and authentic Cajun food will be for sale in the park’s French Quarter Courtyard each evening, like jambalaya and gumbo.

Last year the most popular concert (which filled Universal Studios to capacity) was Fall Out Boy. Other singers included Adam Lambert, Jessie J, and Shawn Mendes. Previous years have included Demi Lovato and even Pitbull. So, with that track record, we’re sure 2017 will be promising!

The Mardi Gras celebrations take place at the Universal Studios park. The parade normally starts at 7:15 PM, with the concert following at the Music Plaza (in front of Rip Ride Rockit) around 8:45 PM.
