Six Flags to Invest More Than $1 Billion to Enhance Guest Experience
In an ambitious move to elevate the guest experience across North America, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation has announced plans to invest over $1 billion over the next two years across its 42 parks. This substantial capital will be directed toward an array of exciting new rides, attractions, themed areas, dining options, and technological upgrades, reaffirming Six Flags’ dedication to providing top-tier entertainment for all ages.

The investment will be divided equally between 2025 and 2026, with each year seeing $500 to $525 million allocated to upgrades and enhancements. This new initiative will include introducing groundbreaking rides, revamping popular attractions, and expanding seasonal events that have become a highlight for park visitors. Additionally, a new All Park Passport Add-On will be introduced, allowing season passholders and members to access all 42 amusement and water parks starting January 6, 2025.
“Our capital investment plans for the next two years reinforce our commitment to providing unmatched thrills, immersive entertainment, and lifelong memories,” said Six Flags President & CEO Richard A. Zimmerman. “The new Six Flags has a unique opportunity to refresh and renew the guest experience, one so compelling that a visit to one of our parks will be viewed as an indispensable choice in family entertainment.”
Six Flags has provided us a list of high-profile attractions and upgrades set to make waves in the theme park industry for 2026:
• Carowinds will introduce a record-breaking water ride.
• Canada’s Wonderland will add a new record-breaking water attraction.
• King’s Island will debut a new family thrill attraction.
• Knott’s Soak City will undergo a water park refresh with aesthetic enhancements.
• Six Flags Magic Mountain will unveil a first-of-its-kind coaster in North America.
• Six Flags Great America will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a new kids’ area, special events, and park enhancements.
• Six Flags Great Adventure will debut a record-breaking launch coaster.
• Six Flags Over Texas will reveal a record-breaking dive coaster.
• Six Flags Mexico will introduce a family thrill boomerang coaster.
While Six Flags is adding new thrills, some beloved attractions will be retired, including the iconic Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure. Since its 2005 debut as the world’s tallest and fastest coaster, Kingda Ka has thrilled over 12 million riders. Its retirement, along with the removal of The Twister and Parachutes, will make way for a new multi-record-breaking launch coaster set to debut in 2026.
Brian Bacica, Park President of Six Flags Great Adventure, acknowledged the bittersweet nature of the changes, stating, “We understand that saying goodbye to beloved rides can be difficult, and we appreciate our guests’ passion. These changes are an important part of our growth and dedication to delivering exceptional new experiences. We look forward to sharing more details next summer.”
Alongside thrilling new rides, Six Flags is also committing over $80 million toward enhancing food and beverage offerings chain-wide — with plans to introduce new restaurant concepts and elevate menu options, catering to the growing demand for diverse, high-quality dining experiences at its parks.

This new direction follows Six Flags’ merger with Cedar Fair Entertainment, making it the largest regional amusement-resort operator in North America. With 27 amusement parks, 15 water parks, and nine resort properties across 17 states in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, Six Flags continues its mission of providing happiness through world-class entertainment, thrilling coasters, themed attractions, and beloved characters, including Looney Tunes, DC Comics, and PEANUTS.
“This is an incredibly exciting time as we lay the foundation for growth for the new Six Flags and focus on what our team does best: make people happy by delivering the best possible experience and value to our guests each and every day,” concluded Zimmerman.
Additional details and specific timelines for each project will be shared as they are finalized, promising a wave of excitement for Six Flags fans as the company undertakes one of the largest enhancement efforts in its history.
