Plans For KingsLand in Williamsburg VA To Be Indoor Amusement Park and Waterpark
Williamsburg Pottery is an outdoor marketplace in Williamsburg, Virginia, but that might be changing in the future! If the company’s Vice President Peter Kao has his way, Williamsburg Pottery will be transformed into a complete tourist destination. A website created in June has revealed that the Williamsburg Pottery management is considering new attractions for the 750-acre property on which it sits including a waterpark, virtual reality center, international performance center, bio-dome, hotels, a senior assisted living community, and an indoor theme park. KingsLand USA, the name given to the project, would operate alongside the Williamsburg Pottery if approved and constructed. Watch the demo video below to get a glimpse of the future!

Not all of these proposals will be developed however. Williamsburg Pottery is looking to either sell the land or enter into a joint venture with a developer. This list of plans is just a variety of things they think would be good for the land. The proposed plan is to pick a couple developments that would work well together. KingsLand may be developed into an indoor theme park and Water Park or an assisted living facility and office buildings, or any other combination of potential developments.
According to a brochure Williamsburg Pottery provided for prospective investors, “an in-depth analysis by the highly respected Leisure Business Advisors LLC (LBA) has concluded that a destination resort would be the highest and best use of this property”, suggesting some sort of amusement park is likely. With Busch Gardens Williamsburg nearby, this could be an exciting prospect for thrill-seekers. Not only would it provide another chance for new thrills, but it could be a great way to spend a rainy day!
This project is still in the early planning stages, none of the listed potential developments have been submitted for review from the James City County Administrator. Kao is optimistic that the project will move forward with support from the county government. The KingsLand project is expected to cost $1.5 billion with most of the project funded by foreign investors, and a portion funded by taxes.
