New Football Themed Waterpark Breaks Ground in Canton, Ohio

Construction has officially begun on a $50 million football-themed indoor waterpark coming to the Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Ohio.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held this morning on the waterpark project, which officials estimate will take two years to build.

Once complete, the 147,000 square foot attraction will feature a waterslide tower, lazy river, wave pool, zero-entry fun zone, swim-up bar and outdoor entertainment area. It will be the only football-themed waterpark in America.

The project is part of the $78 million second phase of the Hall of Fame Village’s development. Once complete, the Hall of Fame Village will offer more than 100 acres of dining, shopping and entertainment.

The other $28 million is marked for a seven-story, 154,000 square foot premium Hilton Tapestry Hotel featuring 180 guestrooms, 10 suites, a 5,000 square foot ballroom, 2,100 square feet of meeting rooms, an indoor pool and fitness center, as well as a full service 106 seat restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.

Other developments planned for the village’s second phase include a 75,000 square-foot retail, research and office building, an 85,000 square-foot facility for athletics and exhibitions; a 3.5-acre green space and a sports complex with three fields.
