Midnight Syndicate Scores Original Soundtrack for Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is about to get even more chilling—thanks to a brand-new score from gothic horror masterminds Midnight Syndicate. The acclaimed composers have created an original soundtrack for Universal Horror Unleashed, Universal Destinations & Experiences’ first-ever year-round horror attraction, opening August 14, 2025, at the AREA15 District.

This project marks the band’s first custom score written specifically for an attraction, building on a 25-year creative relationship with Universal that began when their music debuted at Halloween Horror Nights in 1999. Since then, Midnight Syndicate has become a familiar name to HHN fans, producing the Music of Halloween Horror Nights and Legendary Truth albums in collaboration with Universal Orlando, as well as the 2014 officially licensed Universal Classic Monsters-inspired album Monsters of Legend.

“It’s an honor to be a part of this next exciting chapter in Universal’s legacy of horror entertainment with Universal Horror Unleashed,“ said composer Edward Douglas. Co-composer Gavin Goszka added that while writing music for the attraction felt similar to crafting one of their own albums, the challenge was ensuring the score seamlessly elevated all the other elements of the immersive experience. “Universal is creating a truly immersive horror experience with Universal Horror Unleashed where we think horror fans are really going to enjoy losing themselves,” Douglas noted.

Since the late 1990s, Midnight Syndicate has been synonymous with haunting orchestral arrangements, atmospheric soundscapes, and gothic fantasy storytelling. Their music has set the mood for haunted attractions, theme parks, films, and Halloween retail across the globe. The band’s fifteen studio albums, independent film The Dead Matter, and official soundtrack to the roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons have solidified their status as pioneers of the “haunted house music” genre.

When Universal Horror Unleashed opens this August, guests will step into a nightmarish abandoned production warehouse housing four uniquely themed immersive areas, four terrifying haunted houses, themed dining and drinks, and a retail space filled with collectible merchandise. In addition to scoring the attraction, Midnight Syndicate is preparing for the release of an EP of previously unreleased tracks titled Darkened Corners, arriving September 2025, followed by their next full-length album in mid-2026.
