Kings Island Expands Soak City Waterpark with Dual-Racing Water Coaster and New Kids Area
Kings Island’s Soak City Water Park is set to make a splash in 2025 with exciting new attractions.

Headlining the expansion is RiverRacers, Ohio’s first dual-racing water coaster, alongside a revamped kids’ play area, Splash River Junction, featuring seven new water slides for young adventurers. Additionally, the park will offer hundreds of new loungers and chairs for guests seeking relaxation in both sun and shade.

“Whether you’re a new water slide rider or an experienced thrill seeker, Soak City offers the largest outdoor water park experience in Ohio,” said Mike Koontz, vice president and general manager of Kings Island. “Our park guests have wanted the thrills of a water coaster for a long time, and you can never go wrong adding new experiences for kids and families to cool off together, especially in Soak City.”
RiverRacers Water Coaster

RiverRacers will see riders launch from the starting line in side-by-side rafts, reaching speeds up to 30 mph. Water jets will propel them through mirrored split turns and an enclosed tunnel with special lighting effects. The race intensifies as participants navigate twists and turns, leading to a high-banking slingshot and a gravity-defying final mega drop to determine the winner.
Riders board side-by-side rafts at the starting line where they are launched down a 33-foot, 47-degree first drop. Giant windows help racers see if their ra is in the lead while the water coaster reaches its 30 mph, fastest speed. As each raft nears the bottom of the drop and starts to climb upward, water jets drench the riders and propel them up into an enclosed tunnel illuminated with special lighting effects. The race is on as riders zip through more twists and turns, rushing into an open-air, high-banking slingshot, whipping them around 180 degrees into a gravity-defying final mega drop to see who crosses the finish line first!
Splash River Junction

For younger visitors, Splash River Junction will feature the new Salamander Sliders, offering seven gentle water slides with a variety of slopes, dips, and turns. The reimagined Bluegill Lagoon will serve as a classic swimmin’ hole with a playful water tower. Families can enjoy the water fun or relax nearby with plenty of seating options available.
The highlight of Splash River Junction will be Salamander Sliders, a collection of seven gentle water slides featuring a variety of slopes, dips, and turns, designed to delight younger guests.
Families can look forward to the reimagined Bluegill Lagoon, a classic swimming hole complete with a playful water tower. This ol’ fashioned swimmin’ hole is perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day and is sure to become a favorite spot for the youngest adventurers.
Splash River Junction’s wading pools will offer an ideal setting for children to slide, play, and stay cool. Nearby, Riverbank Slide Out, formerly known as Aruba Tuba, will cater to those seeking medium thrill rides, featuring a two-person raft ride and two body slides tailored for young riders.
Parents and guardians can find relaxation at the Tadpool, previously part of Castaway Cove, where they can enjoy the company of the youngest waterbugs. The park also promises ample seating options, with plenty of loungers, chairs, and umbrellas available for those who prefer to relax in the sun or shade.

RiverRacers and Splash River Junction will be situated on the southern edge of Soak City, adjacent to the four-passenger raft ride, Mondo Monsoon. Splash River Junction will occupy the current site of the kids’ activity pool, Lookout Lagoon, which will undergo a significant expansion and refresh, featuring hundreds of new seating options.
This expansion aims to provide a perfect blend of fun and relaxation for both, families and thrill seekers, ensuring a memorable summer experience for all.
