Kings Dominion Unveils New Name for Former I305 Roller Coaster
Kings Dominion has revealed that the park’s tallest roller coaster will be rebranded as “Pantherian” beginning in the 2025 season.
The new name aligns with the coaster’s integration into the park’s Jungle X-Pedition area, where each attraction is themed around legendary jungle creatures. The rebranding aims to solidify the roller coaster’s connection to its surroundings, with Pantherian embodying the fierce and agile spirit of a jungle panther.
Bridgette Bywater, vice president and general manager of Kings Dominion, expressed her excitement about the transformation. “We’ve been eagerly anticipating revealing Pantherian as it joins the highly anticipated, record-breaking coaster Rapterra in completing the Jungle X-Pedition area. The 2025 season promises to be a 50th-anniversary celebration filled with new thrills and unforgettable experiences.”
Originally opened in 2010, the newly-named Pantherian stands as one of the tallest and fastest coasters on the East Coast. Known for its intense speed and powerful drops, the ride will feature a fresh look with new colors on the track and support columns, as well as a redesigned logo depicting the mythical jungle cat. With a first drop of 305 feet and a top speed nearing 95 mph, Pantherian is set to deliver an exhilarating experience, mimicking the swift and powerful movements of a hunting panther.
The rebranding follows the coaster’s temporary designation as “Project 305” during the 2024 season. Before this, the ride was known as Intimidator 305, a NASCAR-themed attraction paying homage to racing legend Dale Earnhardt.
Guests looking to experience Pantherian next year can take advantage of the park’s 2025 Gold Pass, which offers unlimited rides throughout the season.
With the addition of Pantherian and the arrival of Rapterra, the Jungle X-Pedition area continues to expand, further immersing visitors in the park’s captivating world of adventure and exploration.
