Kings Dominion Celebrates 50 Years with New Coaster, Special Events, and More
Kings Dominion is set to make its 50th anniversary an unforgettable season, packed with thrilling new experiences and returning favorites.
The celebration kicks off March 29, when guests will have the first chance to experience Rapterra, the world’s tallest and longest launched wing coaster. Throughout the year, visitors can enjoy a robust lineup of live entertainment, seasonal festivals, and exclusive anniversary offerings at the 400-acre amusement park in Doswell, Virginia.
Bridgette Bywater, park vice president and general manager, shared her excitement for the milestone season:
“We’re delivering more entertainment, unique experiences, and ways to make lasting memories all season long. With the launch of Rapterra and our expanded 50th-anniversary offerings, this will be a year to remember for Kings Dominion fans.”
Highlights of the 2025 event lineup include:
• March 28 – Season Passholder Preview Night – Silver, Gold, and Prestige Passholders get exclusive early access to the park, including the debut of Rapterra.
• March 29 – Opening Day – Kings Dominion officially opens for the 50th anniversary season.
• March 29 – April 6 – Spring Break Days – Guests can kick off the season with a full week of thrills, live entertainment, and family fun.
• May 24 – Sept. 1 – Soak City Water Park Opens – The 20-acre water park, featuring slides, wave pools, and kid-friendly splash zones, welcomes guests for summer fun.
• July 4 & 5 – Star Spangled Nights – A two-night Fourth of July celebration featuring a dazzling fireworks show synchronized to patriotic music.
• May 31 – Aug. 3 – A Golden Summerbration – The 50th-anniversary celebration brings exclusive entertainment, including:
• Two all-new live shows in the Kings Dominion Theater.
• The return of the iconic Singing Mushrooms with fresh music.
• A high-energy street party celebrating five decades of thrills.
• The return of the Kings Dominion Clown Band, bringing music and fun to the midways.
• A new nighttime spectacle along International Street.
• Exclusive 50th-anniversary merchandise.
• Limited-time food and beverage offerings inspired by Kings Dominion’s history.
• Sept. 19 – Nov. 2 – Halloween Haunt – Fright-filled mazes, scare zones, spooky live shows, and themed food offerings return for select nights.
• Sept. 20 – Nov. 2 – Tricks & Treats – A family-friendly Halloween celebration with costume contests, seasonal treats, and special entertainment.
• Sept. 20 – Nov. 2 – Oktoberfest – Authentic German food, craft beer, and festive entertainment bring Bavaria to Virginia.
One noticeable omission from Kings Dominion’s 2025 lineup is WinterFest. Park officials have confirmed that the event will not be returning this year. While its absence will be felt, fans can hope for its return in the future.
