Kennywood’s Steelers Themed Coaster Closed For 2024
Kennywood is currently implementing a comprehensive modification project on its iconic Steelers-themed roller coaster, aimed at enhancing the ride’s longevity and reliability.

According to park officials, this endeavor involves extensive collaboration with third-party engineers and the ride’s manufacturer over several months to ensure uninterrupted ride experiences for guests.

Kennywood officials have announced the Steel Curtain roller coaster will not open in the 2024 season with a video and following statement :
“To increase ride reliability and longevity, the Steel Curtain will undergo an extensive modification project this year. The park has worked with third-party engineers and the ride’s manufacturer to determine a long-term solution that will allow the ride to run without interruption. The coaster will be closed for the entirety of the season as we work on this project”.
Manufactured by S&S Worldwide Inc., headquartered in Logan, Utah, The Steel Curtain ride has experienced multiple closures since its 2019 debut. It encountered technical difficulties on its opening day, followed by additional closures for maintenance and troubleshooting throughout the year. Furthermore, the ride underwent maintenance in August 2023.

Guests who have already purchased tickets or season passes are expressing dissatisfaction regarding the timing of the public announcement.
One season pass holder believes he’s been deceived by the amusement park. Just days following the announcement, the Pittsburgh resident initiated a class-action lawsuit with legal representation, filing in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.
The lawsuit seeks damages for all season pass holders. More on the case via Trib Live Here.
