Kennywood in Pittsburgh, PA Receives Prestigious Award

Friday, Kennywood was honored by Life’sWorks of Western Pennsylvania as the recipient of The James F. Compton Humanitarian Award.

Life’sWork President and CEO Everett McElveen and Board Chair Brian Heery presented the awards on September 18 during A White House Dinner in Pittsburgh, a fundraising gala to honor businesses and community leaders who have furthered the lives of people with disabilities or other employment barriers.

Kennywood General Manager Jerome Gibas said:

“We are humbled to receive such recognition,”. Life’sWork is an amazing organization and we’re proud of the relationship we’ve developed over the years.”

The mission of Life’s Work of Western PA is to continue it’s comprehensive and innovative role of assisting persons with disabilities or other barriers to employment to achieve independence and dignity through productive employment opportunities.

The James F. Compton Humanitarian Award was established in 1992 to honor the memory of the former Life’sWork Chairman of the Board for his many years of dedicated service and enlightened leadership. The Award recognizes the efforts of a corporation in improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities though enhanced employment opportunities.

The annual Halloween event is in the top 5 in the world according to the Golden Ticket awards by Amusement Today. Your mind will continue to spin as you climb aboard your favorite thrill rides. Yes, they’re running. But with one big difference. They rumble, race and fly in utter darkness! You’ll never see what’s coming until it’s too late.

Phantom fright Nights is open every Friday and Saturday night from September 26 through November 1 from 7pm until 1 am PLUS Sunday, October 12 (7-11pm).
