Hot Butterbeer Arrives at Universal Studios Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Butterbeer has only been served as cold, frozen, or as an ice cream… until now! For a limited time you can grab a mug of hot Butterbeer throughout The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort.
The beverage, introduced at the debut of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure in 2010, is typically served over ice or in a frozen, slushy form. The beverage is only sold at two places in the world; at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Orlando and at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London. The hot version was offered free unannounced to random muggles Thursday evening during a private event for the IAAPA expo at Diagon Alley’s Hopping Pot. It was offered complimentary again on Friday to random public guests at “The Leaky Cauldron” and “Three Broomsticks” restaurants to celebrate the addition.
The drink, which is mentioned in the Harry Potter books, has a shortbread and butterscotch flavor and is served with a whipped topping (alcohol free). Universal had the original recipe and had it taste approved by Potter author J.K. Rowling.
A warm version of butterbeer first appeared at Universal in January, during the resort’s Celebration of Harry Potter event. This summer, a butterbeer-flavored ice cream debuted at the grand opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida.
The hot beverage is being served for $4.99 at Diagon Alley’s Leaky Cauldron restaurant, Hopping Pot counter and The Fountain of Fair Fortune store. Over in the original part of Wizarding World, now known as Hogsmeade, it will be sold at Three Broomsticks and Hog’s Head Pub. It’s just one more reason to visit the amazing Wizarding World!
