Six Flags Over Georgia Announces Georgia Gold Rusher Coaster for 2025
Six Flags Over Georgia has unveiled a fresh theme and name for its highly anticipated new attraction, now called Georgia Gold Rusher. Originally slated to open in 2024 under the name Georgia Surfer, the Intamin Ultra Surf Coaster faced a multitude of delays, pushing its debut to spring 2025. The park used the extra time to rebrand the attraction developing a new storyline, color scheme, and thematic upgrades to the surrounding area.

The Georgia Gold Rusher is inspired by Georgia’s 19th-century gold rush, where prospectors sought fortune in the state’s mineral-rich hills. The ride’s backstory follows William “Willy” Gibson, a clever miner who invented a steam-powered hydraulic excavator to uncover gold more efficiently. This colossal machine, twisting through a massive water reservoir, doubled as a thrilling escape from the sweltering Georgia heat for locals seeking a refreshing ride.

A Cutting-Edge Thrill
This industry-revolutionizing attraction is the ultimate combination of a roller coaster and a unique water attraction — promising a high-speed, high-elevation experience with unique free-spinning gondola seating.

Riders will experience the thrill of outward-facing, free-spinning platforms mounted on a gondola that launches back and forth along a U-shaped track. The ride delivers three moments of weightless airtime and four dynamic airtime spins. Powered by a cutting-edge LSM launch system, the Georgia Gold Rusher reaches speeds of up to 60 mph and soars to a peak height of 144 feet. Adding to the excitement, a water feature enhances the experience with a refreshing splash, while the free-spinning platforms ensure every ride is uniquely unpredictable and exhilarating.

Interactive Water Features:
Passengers will soar backwards and forwards experiencing four water interaction effects, including a vertical wave wall and low cutting splash combination, an elevated experience for both riders and spectators. Riders will speed through a water vortex tunnel creating a captivating water curtain. Offering a panoramic view, spectators are sure to join in the excitement of the water experience and picturesque presence. While this coaster features refreshing splash moments, during the cooler months it can be disabled, allowing for year-long thrills.
