Famous UK Park Reportedly In Talks To Buy Hopi Hari Coaster

The long abandoned Hopi Hari Intamin coaster may finally be built, but in the UK.

Originally, Hopi Hari (Brazilian theme park) was planning to build a Colossus clone at the start of the decade. The park fell into a financial crisis and was unable to build the ride, which led to the delivered track and supports sitting in storage for several years.  The ride was then sold to the Malaysian based Sanderson Design Group. From there the ride was not built and sold to Anime Theme Park Co., a Chinese firm for $5.32 million dollars.

According to reports from China, management from the company has decided to sell the ride in an attempt to recover some of the losses. As of April 12th, the leading bidder (from the UK) has placed a bid of $2.8 million. If the transaction held, then the UK park would purchase the ride.

Recent developments in Flamingo Land have led many to believe that the one who placed the $2.8 million dollar purchase. Land clearing has begun in the last week in the area next to the Velocity coaster. The ride would fit within the area being developed for construction.

Although, there’s pretty solid evidence Flamingo Land may be getting a significant expansion, nothing is set in stone until it is officially announced by the park. So until then, take this rumor with a grain of salt.
