Dorney Park Revamps Thunderhawk For 2016!
Dorney Park has given a facelift to its 1924 Thunderhawk coaster, and it’s time to check it out!
Originally opened as “The Coaster,” Thunderhawk has all new trains and fresh paint for 2016, reminiscent of its original design. Classic white lights outlines the classic wooden roller coaster at night. Thunderhawk is super special as it is the eighth-oldest roller coaster in the United States.
“We wanted to retain the historic feel of one of America’s most iconic wooden roller coasters,” said Mike Fehnel, Vice President and General Manager of Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. “Our thought was to keep the refurbishment as true to its original, classic design as possible, complete with an open air train in the front.”

The coaster is one of seven at the park, which also includes Stinger, Possessed, Steel Force, Hydra and Talon.
We recently made a visit to the park to check out Thunderhawk for ourselves! Hear what we thought in this weekly episode of our “on the go” YouTube series.
Adults aren’t the only ones having all the fun at Dorney Park. Kids attractions include Planet Snoopy, with three acres of family rides, and Peanuts characters, including Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Peppermint Patty, Sally and Snoopy, who perform at Peanuts Showplace. Also opening for 2016 is Dinosaurs Alive! which features 40 animatronic dinosaurs in naturalistic scenes. Admission to Dinosaurs Alive! is $5 extra.
The parks waterpark, Wildwater Kingdom, kicks off its season on May 28.
Now through June 30, Dorney Park is offering an online special ticket price of $38 which is $17 savings off the $55 gate price. For tickets and more information, visit the official Dorney Park website by clicking here.
